Soft starters enable to cut inrush currents when starting the motor (6 In), without using a star/delta starting, an autotransformer or a starting resistance. Soft starters also handle the rotation direction of the motor and STOP phases.
Once the starting phase is over (when the regime is permanent), the starter is shunted by a shunting contactor.
